Home of the Arts Gold Coast
The Home of the Arts Gold Coast
Home of the Arts is located at No. 135, Bundall Road, Surfers Paradise, Australia. A lake and parklands surround it. The Home of the Arts is located at the heart of the Gold Coast. It is an active and vibrant precinct. Through the year, HOTA hosts a series of indoor and outdoor programs including theatre, live music, opera, comedy, dance, kid shows, cinema and arts from national, local and international artists and organisations.
HOTA believes that “home is where the art is”. The venue adopts the philosophy that art should give life to imagination. It is set in beautiful, tropical parkland with a view of the famous Surfer’s Paradise. The Home of the Arts is home to live performances, art and cinema-watching, among other activities.
The venues available in HOTA are an outdoor stage venue, two theatre rooms, a panorama room, the HOTA Cinema, a lakeside room, function rooms and the HOTA cafe.
The HOTA’s First Theatre room is an 1139-seater, traditional-themed theatre with two seating levels and a balcony. The auditorium can host conventions, theatre performances and launching of products. It is the main theatre.
The HOTA’s second theatre room is a smaller, black, box theatre room. This venue is accessible via a lift which is located at the foyer. The room has reserved spots designated to wheelchairs.
We officially opened the Outdoor Stage on the 17th of March 2018. The opening performance by Tim Minchin was sold out. The audience can either sit or stand on the sloped ground. The HOTA Gallery is currently undergoing construction and is expected to be completed in 2021. It has a back wall that completely folds away and opens up onto an amphitheatre. The outdoor venue has a seating and lawn space with a capacity of 5,000.
Other activities available include a sculpture walk, a lake, service at the St. Margaret chapel, an adventure trail, a bridge connecting HOTA to Surfer’s Paradise and a ferry ride.
The Home of the Arts is available for hire for conferences, corporate events and meetings. There are also different pre-show packages available. The venue is equipped with hearing-assisted headsets. The headsets work with Sennheiser Infra-red sound reinforcements. Therefore, people who have hearing impairments can receive hearing assistance.
The venue also makes provisions for wheelchairs. There are designated spots and spaces within the theatre set aside for the ease of wheelchair users. The second theatre room has reserved spots for wheelchairs in front of the racked seats.
The HOTA cafe has both an indoor and an outdoor sitting area. It has a view of the skyline of the beautiful Surfers Paradise. The cafe serves meals, coffees, snacks, alcoholic beverages etc. The HOTA building also contains a Candy and a Foyer Bar.
